Hi Al,

Thanks for the response - and for showing some of the parts of your
model that you use. I'd be very keen to get a close eye on the whole
process sometime :-)

The 'operations' is where, IMO, there is the place for success or
failure if they are not easily repeatable and measurable. I'm keen to
build a model that agencies can use to run all their clients SM
through. I expect that giveb that there is so much crossover, the work
decreases per campaign as you add new campaigns.

I'm also trying out some new measurement and monitoring tools (pre-
beta access) so will let you know what I find.

As for 'thought shower', I have no idea!

In terms of Social Media I'm finding that although I don't proffess in any way to be an innovator, I believe that its my place to stay ahead of the curve and break a lot of the new ideas/frameworks/theories and practices that I learn from others (yourself included) to the guys in the office. Kristen, Al and the other guys will then carry out the management of the strategy for their clients - setting up the measurement channels into things like Analytics and monitoring tools. As a business we 'thought shower' (I hate that term can you give me a better one please?) together when it comes to client's ideas so we get the best for the strategy (i.e. not just setting up the channels and letting them get on with it, but being part of the ideas machine and the measurement that's so important). I'm then involved again when it comes back to board level results and talking to them about how we are getting on and what the numbers mean. :)

No you've got it down, like Al, from what I've seen

How do we go about this in a social media, and therefore virtual way?

Most organisations allow for bosses to look like they know more than their team below them.
Often they do but sometimes this can put a boss in a bad light.

What about a post on knowledge is power - hence it is blocked.

I always like to hire people who are better than me ! So that's how I get round that one ! I make no bones about it - why hire someone worse than yourself ?

Do clients want that ? No

Great post Scott, we've spent a long time at Optix this year trying to bring staff more into the decision making processes/goal planning for the company. This has lead to greater success, more loyalty and more creativity from the team. There is a far greater sense of teamwork now and less of the 'silo effect' where different departments compete against/don't listen to others. I think a lot of business owners/leaders (myself included) often think that they can/should do it all but don't realise this bottlenecks and stiffles a companies growth. When you have staff guiding your business because its in thier interest as well as yours the results can be quite something.
